The sweet breeze of summer arrives and it's time to slow down and enjoy some summer mocktails. The tropical drink doesn't have to be relegated to a stiff Mai Tai, there are plenty of alternatives. And unlike the past where hotels and bartenders kept their recipes a closely guarded secret, we have compiled the best recipes from tiki bars across the globe. How to Make Virgin Tiki Drinks

Before we start on the world's greatest tiki mocktails, there are a few principals to keep in mind.

  1. Always use fresh fruit juice, where its fresh lime juice, orange juice, or pineapple juice

  2. We recommend serving all tiki drinks in a tiki mug or hurricane glass

  3. Adding sparkling water or club soda gives the mocktail a more aesthetic appearance

Our Favorite Tiki Mocktail

The Mango Tango

A sister mocktail to the famous mango tango cocktail. A delicious helping of fresh mango juice combined with an Argentinian dance...wait what? Just kidding...the Mango Tango drink or mango tango mocktail has been a staple of tiki bars since at least the 1940's. We weren't able to pin down a specific origin story, but what we did find is that the mango tango is a variation of the daiquiri from Cuba originally crafted in the late 1800's and early 1900's. How to make a mango tango mocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 ounces fresh lime juice

  • 2 ounces fresh mango juice or mango nectar

  • 1/2 ounces simple syrup

  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters

  • Ice Cubes

  • Mango slices for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the white rum, fresh mango juice, lime juice, simple syrup, and bitters

  2. Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.

  3. Strain the cocktail into a chilled glass filled with ice.

  4. Garnish with a slice of mango and a sprig of mint.

Simple Virgin Tiki Drinks

Beyond the Mango Tango...Let's dive into some easy virgin tiki drinks that you can make at home. What we like to do is focus on the tropical fruits and fruit juices that are found natively in the region, like pineapple juice, coconut cream or passion fruit juice. We also like to include a bit of sparkling water or club soda. The bubbles help break up the heavy fruity flavors or fruit juices. Also if you need an accompanying tiki bar cart, check this out.

Passionfruit Fizz

This delicious mocktail is a blend of passion fruit juice mixed with some honey and a touch of lime juice. The key to this cocktail is the balance between the passion fruit juice and the club soda.

How to Make a Passionfruit fizz

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup passionfruit juice

  • 1/4 cup lime juice

  • 1/4 cup honey syrup (mix equal parts honey and water until dissolved)

  • 1/2 cup club soda

  • Ice

  • Lime wheel and mint sprig, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a pitcher, combine the passionfruit juice, lime juice, honey syrup, and club soda.

  2. Stir well to combine.

  3. Fill glasses with ice and pour the Passionfruit Fizz over the ice.

  4. Garnish each glass with a lime wheel and a sprig of mint.

Coconut Pineapple Mango Mocktail

Combining the two most popular tropical ingredients, the cocunut and pineapple is guaranteed delicious tiki drink and makes for the perfect mocktail. Plussed up with a touch of lime juice this is the perfect mocktail to take you through the weekend.

How to make a coconut mango mocktail

  • 1 cup coconut water

  • 1 cup pineapple juice

  • 1/4 cup lime juice

  • Ice or crushed ice

  • Pineapple wedge to garnish or munch on

Instructions:

  1. In a pitcher or large glass, combine the coconut water, pineapple juice, and lime juice

  2. Stir well with a cocktail stirrer to combine

  3. Fill glasses with ice and pour the Coconut Pineapple Mocktail over the ice.

  4. Garnish each glass with a pineapple wedge.

Sparkling Mango Mocktail

The delightful flavors of fresh mango balanced by some fresh lime juice and lifted by some club soda makes for a light mocktail enjoyed at any temperature. We recommend serving this mocktail in a hurricane glass. If you're looking for a mocktail in the morning try our Virgin Mary.

  • 1 cup mango juice

  • 1/4 cup lime juice

  • 1/4 cup simple syrup

  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda

  • Ice or crushed ice

  • Mango slices and mint sprigs, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a pitcher, combine the mango juice, lime juice, and simple syrup.

  2. Stir well to combine.

  3. Fill glasses with ice and pour the mango mixture over the ice.

  4. Top with sparkling water or club soda.

  5. Stir gently to combine.

  6. Garnish each glass with a mango slice and either rosemary sprig or mint

Grapefruit Tiki Punch

This mocktail is one of our personal favorites, a blend of the ultimate summer citrus, grapefruit juice and orange juice. This mocktail can be served in either a tiki mug or tall glass. Now that your ready for a few delicious drinks head on down to your nearest tiki bar.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup grapefruit juice

  • 1 cup orange juice

  • 1/4 cup honey syrup (mix equal parts honey and water until dissolved)

  • 1/2 cup club soda

  • Ice

  • Grapefruit wedge and thyme sprig, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a pitcher, combine the grapefruit juice, orange juice, honey syrup, and club soda.

  2. Stir well with a cocktail stirrer

  3. Fill glasses with ice and pour the Grapefruit Tiki Punch over ice

  4. Garnish each glass with a grapefruit wedge
