Old Fashioned

by Rick J. Schwab

The Old Fashioned may be one of America's oldest cocktails. Many a restaurant in Louisville claim to have crafted this delicious beverage, but in truth, mixing alcohol with a bit of sugar and citrus is a tale as old as time.

The Old Fashioned is the ultimate Gentleman's cocktail, a perfect combination of Rye Whiskey, Bitters, an orange slice and a Maraschino cherry.

Ingredients :

  • Brown Sugar Cube
  • 1/2 Orange Slice
  • 1 Maraschino Cherry
  • A Dash (or two) of Angostura Bitters
  • 2 Ounces of Bullit Rye

Directions :

  • Pour a touch of water in the bottom of the glass
  • Muddle the sugar in the glass
  • Add the cherry and bitters
  • Pour in the Rye
  • Stir 50-100 times

The Old Fashioned is one of our personal favorite cocktails. Enjoy.
