Freddy's Bar Amsterdam

by RJ Peristere

By now...if you've been reading our work, you know what kind of bars we like. Old...but not stuffy. The beauty of Freddy's Bar is not only the location, which is splendid, but the general vibe throughout not only the bar but also the hotel. The Hotel D'Europe is a splendid 5 star hotel and certainly feels like it. The food is both very Dutch and yet also quite welcoming. We made the funny mistake of ordering the Oosenwurtz. We we're thinking it would be some sort of cooked sausage, in fact it was raw OX. Why haven't you touched your raw ox? Maybe next time. Although we did eat it.

What We loved about Freddy's Bar

The crowd was spectacular. A nice mix of both tourists and upscale locals meeting after work. We enjoyed the live music as well. It feels oh so American to listen to jazz in Europe while on vacation. Am I James Bond or what? Also, in a historic hotel like the Hotel D'Europe gives the ultimate vibe. The dark wood in the bar also exudes warmth.

They also had many table games like Jenga, chess and backgammon. We personally love bar games. Nothing like having a few cocktails and beers while kicking your brothers butt in chess. We included some basic information below.
