The Sazerac

by Rick J. Schwab
Few cities can simultaneously blend elegance and grit like New Orleans. Beyond the craze and festivities of Bourbon Street, both back alley bar and jazz lounge offer a twist on the classic Old Fashioned.
This classic cocktail combines a light touch of Absinthe, New Orleans' own Peychaud's bitters, and rye whiskey.
Ingredients :
  • Absinthe
  • 2 Dashes of Peychaud's Bitters
  • 2 Ounces Rye Whiskey
  • 1/2 Ounce of Simple Syrup

Directions :

  • Rinse chilled glass in Absinthe
  • Dash in Peychaud's bitters
  • Add simple syrup and rye
  • Stir
  • Serve Up
